International Agency for Tourism Development (IATD)

The International Agency for Tourism Development (IATD) is a specialized institution of the World Association for Development (WAD) dedicated to promoting sustainable, inclusive and resilient tourism. It supports States, local authorities, partner institutions and private actors in shaping responsible tourism policies.

IATD responds to the limitations of current tourism models, which are often marked by territorial inequalities, vulnerability to crises, pressure on natural resources and the limited participation of local communities. It supports tourism planning, sector governance, responsible investment, training, innovation and the ecological transition of destinations.

Through its programs, its instruments of expertise and its partnerships, IATD seeks to make tourism a lever for economic development, the creation of decent jobs, the enhancement of natural and cultural heritage and social inclusion.
